Teeth Whitening

Have your teeth whitened in Vilnius in under 1 hour!

To whiten stained or discoloured teeth we use one of the many special types of bleach that has been developed for this purpose. The strength of the bleaching agent is chosen according to the condition and sensitivity of the teeth.

Before the teeth whitening the dentist will examine your teeth and gums since it is important to ensure the healthy condition of the oral cavity. Old fillings may need changing; carious teeth will be filled and treated.

At our Vilnius dental clinic we use two types of teeth whitening:

SDI whitening system (three 10 minute sessions). SDI whitening system is a bleaching process that lightens discolouration of the tooth using LED light. The procedure takes about 45 minutes and includes three 10 minute sessions. It is recommended for very discoloured teeth and is safe and effective for whitening teeth rapidly.

Tray based Opalescence (3-7 days). In this technique a plastic tray that has been fabricated to fit comfortably over a person’s teeth is used. The tray’s material is soft plastic foil and is quite comfortable to wear. You will place the bleaching gel (carbamide peroxide) into the tray and the tray is then worn for several hours (usually overnight), allowing the whitening process to take place. Treatment takes between 3-5 days depending on the condition of the teeth. This type of whitening allows the patient to control the bleaching time, that’s why we recommend it for those patients which suffer from any kinds of tooth sensitivity.

Dental Hygiene – Cleaning polishing scaling

Professional dental hygiene includes scaling and polishing.

Scaling is a common non-surgical treatment for removal of infected deposits – tartar or calculus – from the tooth surface. If not removed, calculus leads to periodontal disease (poriodontosis). In periodontal disease, the pocket between the tooth and gum begins to deepen and may cause tooth supporting bone loss. This leaves the tooth progressively loose.

Scaling is done with ultrasonic equipment and involves a deep cleaning of the tooth above and below the gum line in order to remove any plaque and calculus that has accumulated on the tooth.

The ultrasound vibrations are extremely fine and the process does not damage the tooth surface in any way. Many dentists recommend having the teeth professionally cleaned at least every 6 to 12 months.

After scaling professional hygiene is finished with polishing, this is done using a special soda flow machine.
